Marriage Preparation
We welcome the engaged to contact us as they begin preparations for their wedding day.
Why a 9 month preparation process?
It is important to prepare couples adequately to live their call to holiness through the Sacrament of Marriage. The Catholic Church wants your marriage to succeed and has outlined a process to help you both grow in love, and a deeper understanding of one another through a better understanding of the Sacrament. We are here to help you not just prepare for your wedding day, but for a lifetime of committed love and life together.
Where do we begin?
After you are engaged and before you set the wedding date: Contact Barb or Ramsey by phone or email to set up an appointment for an interview.
What can we expect at the interview?
The interview is a great time to answer all your questions and for us to get to know one another. I collect basic information and go over the preparation process in greater detail. Once the initial meeting is over, it is an exciting time for the good work of prep to begin. There are lots of options available to busy and distant couples.
The preparation process is a beautiful time for couples to talk about their hopes and dreams for the future, to have deeper conversations on shared values, and move beyond past experiences in the light of love and forgiveness.
The classes are designed to help inspire, educate, and draw your relationship deeper. They are engaging, enlightening, and helpful as catalysts to begin the dialogue that may have been buried or thought unnecessary.
Why so many preparatory steps?
- The preparation policy is set by the Diocese of Phoenix.
- The emphasis is on facilitating the deepening of the relationship of the couple so that couples enter into marriage with a strong, loving, and wise foundation.
- We also emphasize the couple's relationship to God and through that hope to deepen their appreciation of God's role in a successful and enduring marriage.
- The goal is to help couples have that “happily ever after” and to give them the tools and resources for that end in mind.
