The Caring Ministries, at St. Andrew the Apostle offers assistance and care to all of God's people, within our faith community and beyond. Outreach and "intake" is performed by adult volunteers who work in the office. They process applications for assistance; return phone calls; meet with and listen to those needing the Church's help. Basic training will be provided.

About
Our Good Samaritan Ministry at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church seeks to bring a measure of God’s love and mercy to others by sharing the blessings of food and other resources with those who are in need. All those who walk through our doors are seen as our brothers and sisters in Christ and will therefore be served with great respect and compassion.
Our Good Samaritan Ministry and Food Pantry is staffed entirely by volunteers and based in the Caring Ministries Office (northwest corner of the campus).

Food donations can be dropped off at all Masses in the wagons located in the Narthex or dropped off directly at the Caring Ministries office during our open operational hours of Monday-Thursday from 9:00-11:00am.The Food Pantry Needs Nutritious Non-Perishable Foods
The Good Samaritans also coordinate St. Andrew's-sponsored community projects, like our annual the Thanksgiving Food Drive.- Meals in a can (stew, chili, soup)
- Tuna and canned meat
- Peanut butter
- Jelly
- Canned foods with pop-top lids
- Low-sugar cereals
- Canned vegetables (low salt)
- Pasta
We request that you do not donate bulk quantities of rice, flour, or sugar. Although we appreciate and can utilize every donation we receive, we don't have the repackaging facilities needed to properly distribute such items.

AboutSt. Andrew the Apostle is now a member of "CARITAS", the new valley wide Catholic Coalition. The coalition includes various Catholic parishes, schools and faith organizations. The coalition was put together to continue to assist Habitat for Humanity in their efforts to build housing for those in need.
It is our hope that as time moves forward more Catholic interests will come forward and join this coalition to assist us all. Currently, the Catholic coalition is comprised of the following partners in addition to St. Andrew: St. Patrick, the Casa (Franciscan Renewal Center).
Our coalition recently completed two builds this past year. The two families are
the Ntiyamira family and the Yussuf family.

Habitat for Humanity is not a giveaway program, it is a ‘hand up, not a hand out’. In addition to a down payment and the monthly mortgage payments, homeowners invest hundreds of hours of their own labor into building their Habitat house and the houses of others.
Habitat for Humanity qualifies as an eligible charity? Your state tax donations are eligible for a dollar-for-dollar tax credit of up to $470 for single and $938 for joint filers. To claim the tax credit, you must be an Arizona resident and complete the Arizona Tax Form 321 to file with the state tax return. Your contribution must be postmarked or made online by April 15th. Please include St. Andrew the Apostle on the subject line when donating.

AboutThe Respect Life Ministry is dedicated to promoting an awareness for the respect of all life from the moment of conception until natural death. We do not hold regular in-person meetings but instead communicate to our ministry members through Flocknote as well as some occasional emails and texts. We inform our members of numerous Pro-Life events around our community and in the Valley, while also educating them about life affirming options and current Pro-Life news.
WHAT WE DO:- We help support local crisis pregnancy centers through bi-annual parish cradle drives, as well as support our own Mothers Lifeline ministry in tandem with the Walking with Moms in Need initiative in our diocese.
- We participate in the 40 Days for Life peaceful prayer campaigns every Fall and Spring outside of the Planned Parenthood Tempe location.
- We promote the National Day of Remembrance for Aborted Children each September.
- We promote Respect Life month every October.
- We gather to sing Christmas Carols (“Peace in the Womb”) in front of the Tempe Planned Parenthood in December each year.
- We have hosted Pro-Life speakers, movies/documentaries, and lead a Stations of the Cross during Lent.
- We collaborate with our Knights of Columbus to host a charter bus for the March for Life Rally in downtown Phoenix, as well as help promote their Pro-Life initiatives like the Baby Bottle Drive, the 5th Sunday Pro-Life Rosary and their annual ultrasound machine fundraiser.

Mother’s Lifeline is an active outreach ministry designed to meet the needs of mothers of infants and toddlers in crisis situations.
Our mission is to be part of a community support network for mothers of limited economic means. We aim to utilize the gifts, talents and skills of our faith community to give support and assistance to mothers and their young children.Who Do We Help?
We help new mothers referred to us by Social Workers of hospitals and women’s shelters, pregnancy hotlines, and word of mouth. Because it is a community service, we provide support to all faiths and parishes. Our distribution area is generally limited to the East Valley, Tempe, Chandler, Mesa and Gilbert.How Can I Help?
You can help out in 2 ways:- Volunteer! Parishioners are needed to organize the supply closet and to meet clients at parish facilities to supply the requested items.
- Donate! Mother’s Lifeline volunteer network receives several calls each week for practical assistance. We have an endless need for:
- Disposable diapers
- Diaper wipes
- Clothing up to 2 T
- Gift cards to stores like Target, Fry's, Walmart

Prayer for Healing and Strength
In the quiet of this moment, O God, we thank you for your infinite love that is always here for each of us, for all of us. Help us to listen and watch as you call our names. We want to hear what it is that you are asking of us. We want to see you in the eyes of people we meet each day. We know that we are the embodiment of your love. Let us remember to show kindness as we speak, to be your image of joy and peace in the lives of everyone we meet today, especially those who need support for their illness and pain, be it in body, mind or spirit. We know that we have a choice in each present moment; let us watch and listen as you show us how to choose love.

Thanksgiving Food Drive
There are several ways you can get involved in helping others this Thanksgiving at St. Andrew's. Please prayerfully consider what you and your family would like to participate in.
To give a donation of food bags, please drop off food donations beginning Saturday, October 26 and NO LATER than Sunday, November 17, 2024. Food Donations can be dropped off in the wagons in the Narthex. For a list of suggested food items, click HERE for the list. You can also give a monetary donation made out to St. Andrew Good Samaritans.

Are you a parish family in need of assistance this Christmas? Applications for the 2024 Christmas Giving Tree will be available beginning September 9, 2024. If you are a registered and active parishioner of St. Andrew the Apostle (for a minimum of 6 months), and would like to be considered, please complete a 2024 Giving Tree Intake Form and return by September 30 to our Caring Ministries Office or Parish Office. Tree of Life
The St. Andrew community "Tree of Life" is a beautiful metal tree in the northwest corner of the Church Sanctuary. Glass Ovals, inscribed with names of children who have died, are attached to the tree.
Prayer Garden
A section of our beautiful parish Prayer Garden is also dedicated to our Angel Connection ministry. It is located on the left as you enter the main gate of Garden.
