About the Food Drive

Thanksgiving Food Drive provides meals and food to families in need not only in our own parish family but within our local Chandler community and out to hundreds of families in south Phoenix and on the Indian reservation. Beneficiaries of the Thanksgiving Food Drive include:

  • St. Andrew's Food Pantry
  • St. Martin de Porres St. Vincent de Paul
  • St. Peter's Indian Mission.

Hand out grocery bags after a Mass November 11th-12th

Volunteers are needed to hand out bags out after each Mass with suggested list for items or donation. Meet at Narthex entrance after communion. Takes approximately 20 minutes. When signing up, please select a Mass for handing out bags and indicate how many people you have in your group.

Collection of Food Bags before Mass on November 18th & 19th

All bags are brought back to the Church. The Saturday evening bags benefit our St. Andrew’s food pantry. All of the bags brought on Sunday morning go out to St. Martin de Porres and the Sunday evening Mass bags go to St. Peter’s Indian Mission.
Volunteers are needed to do the following:

  • Be at church 30 minutes before Mass begins to help collect groceries as people arrive.
  • Meet in courtyard for assignment.
  • When signing up, please select a Mass for collecting groceries and indicate how many people.

Loading the truck November 19th @ 11:45 AM

Arrive at St. Andrews at 11:45 AM to begin loading the truck with food. After the 11:00 AM Sunday Mass, we will form a line as people leave Mass to finish loading the truck as a community.

Drive over to St. Martin de Porres and unload the truck.

Please sign up to volunteer by emailing Dan and Michelle Sieczkowski at thanksgiving@standrewchandler.com.

Thanksgiving Food Boxes

This Thanksgiving, another great way you can help those in need in our community…Supply a Thanksgiving Food Box!

Your Thanksgiving Food Box should contain everything needed for a Thanksgiving Dinner to serve a family of 4-6. You can be as simple or as creative you would like to be, but please be sure to include all of the ingredients that the family will need (don’t forget the turkey, butter, rolls and the scrumptious pie for dessert!). If you would rather let the family pick out their own bird, you can include a grocery store gift card in your box.

This is a great project for an individual or family, a group of co-workers or friends, or for a ministry group. In the past, some people have gotten very creative by decorating their boxes and including paper napkins, tablecloth, candles and some inexpensive table decorations. That is not necessary, but it does make the family who is receiving it feel very special and many a tear has been shed when they are handed a box made with such extra special love!

Please deliver completed boxes to the Caring Ministries Office no later than Noon on Monday, November 20th. Distribution of Food Boxes starts at 9:30 Tuesday!
